Ed Tucker offers 42 years’ experience in health care financial and operational management. Mr. Tucker has focused on improving both financial and operational performance in health care, learning many important lessons. Ed combines his practical experiences with Lean princibles to improve financial performance while actually increasing health care quality and operating performance. Mr. Tucker is the former CFO of a state Blue Cross plan and COO and CFO 2-hospital health system. He currently is a CPA and Certified Management Consultant, and specializes in healthcare turnarounds for Caldwell Butler Associates.
Ed’s career includes consulting; public accounting; Assistant Hospital Director of University Hospital (528-bed teaching hospital in Jackson, MS); CFO of Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mis- sissippi and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana; and CFO/CIO and Interim COO of Forrest General Hospital (512-bed hospital in Hattiesburg, MS).
He now uses these experiences in his role as Managing Principal at Caldwell Butler & Associ- ates to bring clients more efficient operations.
Ed holds a BS in Accounting from Mississippi State University and MBA from Mississippi Col- lege, and teaches health care financial management in the University of Southern Mississippi, College of Health. He has been a member of HFMA since 1974 and received the Mississippi Chapter’s O.K. Pearce Award.
